In this story, a young boy is having strong feelings and questions about the death of his dad, who died after a long illness. At first, he is confused as he does not fully understand what DEAD means. The grief support group at The Rainbow House normalises his feelings and helps him understand the finality and irreversibility of death.
Through compassionate listening, he comes to terms with the change in his life and knows that his dad will always be with him in his memories. He completes the Four Tasks of Mourning… 1] Accepting the big change; 2] Feeling the feelings; 3] Adjusting to life without Dad; 4] Internalising the treasured memories in a safe place.
